Release Notes

2012-05-10: Release 0.6.2 adds Test-FBConnection and New-FBConnection -Connection -PageId, fixes a few minor bugs, and prepares for PowerShell 3.0. Soon I will declare this module to be in Beta.

0.6.0: This major new release adds support for Facebook Pages. New Facebook policies will push most medium-or-larger-sized organizations from users/groups to pages, so this support is critical to automate Facebook under the current policies.
  • New-FBConnection -PageId <pageID> to get a connection specific to a Facebook Page. Use this connection with other commands to manage the page.
  • New-FBConnection -AccessToken: Create a new connection from scratch
  • Get-FBPage: Enumerate Facebook Pages belonging to an account (including their PageIds)
  • Improved support for alternate AppId: The Connection structure now includes fields for AppId and RedirectUri. This requires a change to the on-disk connection file format, although the old format will still be supported for for 0.6.x releases. The new XML-based format should reduce any future need for breaking file format changes.
  • Read-FBConnection: Now caches the read connection by default, unless -NoCache is specified
  • Show-FBConnectionDialog: Now returns just an AccessToken string, and does not cache any data. Most users should instead just call New-FBConnection with no parameters (similar to the behavior in early releases).
  • Show-FBMessageDialog -FriendsOnly: Restrict the message dialog to friends of the current (presumably user) token. This prevents the Message Dialogs from failing if any of the specified users are not friends of the current user.
  • All list queries will attempt to retrieve up to 1000 objects (full support for limit/since/until qualifiers is pending)
  • General performance and reliability improvements
Just double-click the MSI installer! You also have the option of installing the individual files manually (in which case, don't forget to remove mark-of-the-web -- it's easier to remove from the MSI rather than from each extracted file!).

This download also includes the FacebookExamples.ps1 script, which sets up some examples of more advanced functions you can build with FacebookPSModule.
